A severe heatwave is sweeping over the country past few days. The tea workers are working in 2 to 3 shifts in the tea gardens of Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar.  Two women tea workers died of heat stroke in different tea gardens of the upazila. Besides, 10-12 people were reported to be sick. The deceased are Indra Dwivedi and Sanjita Ravidas.

... Two women tea workers, Indra Dwivedi, and Sanjita Rabidas, died of heat stroke at the Deochra garden, an outpost of Duncan Brothers Shamshernagar tea garden in Kamalganj on Wednesday night. 

They worked three shifts and came home sick. When they were taken to the hospital later that night, the doctors declared them dead. Apart from this, four workers in the Deochra tea garden, three in the Shamshernagar tea garden, one in the Chatlapur tea garden, and two in the Alinagar tea garden have suffered from heat stroke.

Tea workers leader Sitaram Bin said two tea workers died of heat stroke due to intense heat, also many have become ill. Tea workers are being made to work in multiple shifts even in this heat. 

Shamshernagar tea garden manager Zakir Hossain said I do not know anything about this. We have no objection if workers come to work in the morning.
