Complaint against Samsung in France for breach of its ethical

Peoples Solidarity NGOs, Sherpa and INDECOSA-CGT filed a lawsuit for "deceptive trade practice", saying that Samsung has not fulfilled its ethical commitments in particular child labor, or safety rules in factories its Chinese suppliers. For these associations, it is a process "unprecedented" in France because the French courts never have had to rule on the question of whether non-compliance with ethical commitments could constitute a criminally reprehensible practice…[I]n response to inquiries from CLW [China Labor Watch], Samsung had assured that [its] investigation...had not found evidence on the employment of young people in its factories, but revealed "inappropriate" [practices] for...overtime and penalties for delay or absence. [Also refers to HEG Electronics]
