Chevron

[DOC] [Response to critique by plaintiffs' lawyers of Silvia Garrigo's statements on CNN]

Chevron agrees that the residents of the Ecuadorian Amazon deserve to have a remediation program to address the existing environmental impacts in the oil fields which were part of former consortium between Texaco Petroleum and the state oil company, Petroecuador. However, Chevron disagrees that it is responsible for this remediation or for any of the claims asserted in the litigation. This case is nothing more than attempt to blame an American multinational company for a state oil company’s failure to clean up its share of the oil fields and for the government of Ecuador’s failure to provide for the basic socioeconomic needs of the residents of the Ecuadorian Amazon... Texaco Petroleum’s Remediation Worked... Responsibility Resides with Petroecuador... Plaintiffs’ Cancer Claims are False... Cabrera’s 27 Billion Dollar Report is a Fraud... Pres. Correa has Obstructed Justice... Consenting To Jurisdiction in Ecuador does not mean consenting to a trial that has been marred by presidential interference, unethical conduct by plaintiffs’ attorneys and a judiciary that systematically failed to respect the law...
