The Ministry of Labour is investigating the concerns raised by employees of Guyana Manganese Inc (GMI), a Chinese company, regarding severe working conditions. Guyana's Minister of Labour, Joseph Hamilton, acknowledged the complaints received by the Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union (GAWU) regarding the company's Matthews Ridge location. GAWU highlighted issues such as the lack of proper sanitation and the urgent need for repairs and rehabilitation of housing facilities.

We invited Bosai Minerals, parent company of Matthews Ridge, to comment on these allegations. The company did not provide a response.
