MANGO's response to allegations of abuses in Myanmar garment factories

In 2022 Mango made a statement along with a trade union (Comisiones Obreras, CC.OO.) about its commitment to respect human rights and against the situation in the country and decided to keep the country outside its provisioning options for all its production lines. Therefore, Myanmar is no longer included on the list of supplying markets authorised by the company.

This decision was the result of a rigorous and accountable assessment of the state of the country, reaching the conclusion that in the present context Mango is unable to guarantee the working conditions in the factories, to preserve the security of suppliers and to maintain the quality of the operations. This situation represented an ethical, political and economic challenge to Mango’s operating environment and jeopardized workers’ integrity…

…prior to departure from the country, Mango carried out a phased responsible exit aligned with due diligence and assurance processes, despite the deterrents caused by the nature of the circumsntances. Mango gathered information about the situation in the country from the main institutions and alliances, such as the Ethical Trade Initiative (ETI), the International Apparel Federation (IAF) and IndustriALL among others…
