Mining Affected Communities United in Action (‘MACUA’) condemn Glencore’s Rhovan Vanadium Mine for allegedly disregarding the local communities
Mining Affected Communities United in Action (‘MACUA’) strongly condemned Glencore’s Rhovan Vanadium Mine for allegedly disregarding the local community of Bethanie in South Africa. MACUA accused Rhovan Mine of failing to consult with the community on their Social and Labour Plan (‘SLP’) commitments. Further that the mine was colluding with small groups and political entities and operated illegally without an approved SLP and that the mine has ignored the community's needs. Further, communities have been protesting for over three weeks without a resolution. We invited Rhovan mine to respond to these allegations. They did not respond.
