Myanmar: 300 garment workers at Evertex Myanmar garment factory owed full compensation following factory closure

In May 2021, the Evertex Myanmar Garment factory in Myanmar reportedly closed, after factory officials announced its temporary closure in April 2021. Workers report the employer fled, leaving 300 workers without their full legal compensation.

According to one worker, the employer had promised to pay workers 20% of their salary during the temporary closure, however workers demanded 50%. The employer then promised to pay their compensation according to the law, but was now 'avoiding it.'

The workers report they were paid just 150,000 kyats of their compensation.
