Paris 2024: Migrants file lawsuit against Vinci, Eiffage, Spie Batignolles, GCC & 8 subcontractors over irregular work status while on Olympic venues

Olympic Rings

Following reports of undocumented workers working to construct venues for the 2024 Paris Olympics, 10 of the workers have filed a case against Vinci, Eiffage, Spie BAtignolles and GCC over alleged labour exploitation, including being employed while undocumented and once regulated continuing to work without contracts, pay slips, paid holidays or overtime. Eight subcontractors are also the target of the case.

We were promised exemplary Olympic construction sites. In the end, it is worse than elsewhere, because there is a political imperative: the sites must be delivered on time. So companies implement all legal or illegal means to deliver on time.
CGT's labour court counsellor Richard Bloch
