In July 2022, the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited the Football Association of Wales to respond to an article by Amnesty International regarding the upcoming Qatar World Cup and the association's human rights responsibilities. In the article, Amnesty International recognizes the Welsh FA’s support to a Migrant Workers Centre and calls on the FA further to support the ask of FIFA to create a compensation fund for workers who have suffered abuses.

The report states:

“Setting up a permanent Migrant Workers Centre in Doha is one way of seeking to ensure that improved conditions and proper workers’ rights are a lasting legacy of Qatar 2022, but the Welsh FA should also back our call on Fifa to set aside $440m for a workers’ compensation fund.”

In response, the Welsh FA provided a statement which can be read in full below. The response refers to the FA's membership of the UEFA Working Group, which has previously released information regarding compensation.
