For the second time in less than a year, Uber drivers in Qatar have gone on strike to protest their working conditions. Drivers commenced their most recent strike in February 2017 over fuel price hikes and changes in fare policies that they save have significantly reduced their earnings. Their first strike occurred in April 2016, after Uber announced that it was lowering fares to attract more customers in the Gulf country. Groups, including the New York Taxi Workers Alliance, have issued statements in solidarity with the striking workers.
