River Island's response to Anzir Apparels factory closure

River Island has not worked with this factory for over 12 months and, at the time of our last interaction with the factory, it was operating at full capacity. River Island’s last placed orders were in May 2023, totalling 12,000 units out of the factory’s output capacity of 85,000 units per week – representing less than 0.5% of its yearly capacity. We have since placed no further orders and consequently, according to our policy, the factory became deactivated after 12 months of inactivity...River Island also strives to uphold its ethical transition strategy as part of the Responsible Purchasing Practices Policy, which are based on the ETI’s Guide to Buying Responsibly. Under this practice, River Island is committed to minimise the impact it could potentially have on a factory, at the time of exiting.
