Another Bashkir protest. Thousands of activists protested against copper mining in the region, 28 September 2020

The issue of terminating the license will be considered by the Ministry of Natural Resources. The permit was valid since February 2019, it was received by RMK’s subsidiary, Alexandrinskaya Mining Company (AGC). According to the terms of the contract, AGC was to begin geological exploration within nine months. However, work started only in the summer of 2020.

Environmental activists opposed copper mining in Bashkiria - they fear that RMK will pollute underground drinking water. Nature defenders organized several rallies - at one of them...several thousand people gathered. Activists demand that the Kryktytau ridge be given the status of a natural monument...

The license for the site in Bashkiria was issued to RMK in 2019 for a period of 25 years. The company paid 59.69 million rubles for it...
