So. Africa: AngloGold Ashanti apologises to former miners hospitalised after staying in sub-standard accommodation provided by company
Lawyers representing former AngloGold Ashanti miners, claim that several of their clients were hospitalised after travelling for 15 hours to undergo medical evaluations at AngloGold’s West Wits Hospital. The lawyers claim that the miners "whose average age is 62, were accommodated in unheated, cell-like hostels...were allocated beds with no sheets or pillows and only two small blankets [despite] [t]he...temperature...dropp[ing]...to 2°C."
