The Chocolate Industry: Slavery Lurking Behind the Sweetness

The industry says it will have a program for eliminating child labor in place by July 2004. With child slaves continuing to suffer, this is an outrage...GX [Global Exchange] is launching a campaign targeting the two biggest US chocolate corporations -- Hershey's and M&M/Mars. We are demanding that the corporations take immediate steps to end child slavery and that they commit to purchasing at least five percent of their cocoa as Fair Trade Certified.
