Update from Concerned Citizens of Mossville
... This memo provides an update on the October 3 blog post and subsequent written dialogue between Mossville residents, represented by Concern Citizens of Mossville (CCOM), and Sasol, a South African petrochemical company, about the impacts of Sasol’s Lake Charles Chemical Complex in Southwest Louisiana. These written exchanges highlighted injustices—including Sasol’s buyout program in Mossville—that Sasol was (and still is) perpetrating on its fence line neighbors in Mossville and the local environment. Following this dialogue, Sasol’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Ms. Kim Cusimano, extended an invitation to CCOM to discuss the situation. Here, we describe CCOM’s disappointing experience of these dialogues and the new path forward for Mossville.
