US Court Rejects Shell Motion To Drop Nigeria Torture Claim
A New York court has rejected a Royal Dutch Shell PLC motion to have counts of "crimes against humanity" and "torture" dismissed in a case alleging the company was complicit of human rights violations in Nigeria's Ogoniland, according to a ruling dated Sept. 29.... However the ruling by Judge Kimba Wood granted Shell's application for other counts in the lawsuit to be dismissed, relating to extrajudicial killings, the right to life, and property destruction.
