Esprit's response to Türkiye earthquake aftermath one year on

What are you doing to address the labour rights abuses reported at factories in earthquake-affected regions and the financial hardships facing workers in the aftermath of the earthquake?

Esprit sources fabric and trims in the affected areas of Turkey. Our supplier in Kahramanmaraş is mentioned in our corporate website as part of the Company’s transparency commitment.

Esprit continues to be in close contact with all its affected factories since the earthquake as a part of due diligence procedures.

Esprit already have audits from the affected factories and also reached out to local NGO’s and have contact with all unions to ensure any grievance from the region is closely monitored. Esprit has internal staff located in Adana, Turkey, which gives the Company ease of access to the region and local information.

Have you tracked instances of workers having severance pay denied in the aftermath of the earthquake?

Esprit have not found any case of denial of severance pay from its suppliers and no complaints have been brought to the Company’s attention.

What steps do you intend to take to ensure vulnerable workers, such as refugees, aren’t facing these kinds of abuses?

Esprit continues its audits and collaboration with local unions and refugee related NGO’s to ensure  its supply chain compliance and due diligence measures.
