Global Compact Network Japan calls on private sector & all stakeholders to act in solidarity on Russian invasion of Ukraine

"グローバル・コンパクト・ネットワーク・ジャパン(GCNJ) ロシア連邦とウクライナの戦争の1日も早い終結を-民間企業からの支援の呼びかけ" 22 March 2022

[Japanese-to-English translation: Business & Human Rights Resource Centre]

On 2 March, at an emergency special session, the UN adopted a resolution, supported by 141 of its 193 Member States, deploring in the strongest terms the Russian Federation's invasion of Ukraine and demanding the immediate and complete withdrawal of Russian troops.

The UN Global Compact (UNGC), a special initiative of the UN Secretary-General, has also joined the UN in expressing deep concern about the ongoing war and a firm call for peace.

As millions of people seek refuge and flee across borders, we deeply echo the UN Secretary-General's words that 'the international community must fully support the affected people without any discrimination based on race, religion or ethnicity'.

GCNJ mourns the situation that continues to deteriorate for millions of people in this war between Russia and Ukraine, including civilians, business operators, colleagues in local networks and their families, and our hearts go out to all those affected by this war and wish it to end as soon as possible.

We, the GCNJ, call on the private sector and all stakeholders to stand in solidarity and act in accordance withthe Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Business Guide, developed by the UNGC and UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
