Myanmar: Garment workers at alleged Stradivarius supplier report multiple labour rights violations incl. unsanitary working conditions & mandatory overtime; Incl. co. response
In March 2023, it was reported that workers at Qi Cai garment factory faced a series of violations, including being forced by management to join a WCC instead of a trade union, forced to work overnight and in the evenings, having to work unpaid overtime if targets weren’t met, denied a copy of their contract and denied salaries when the factory temporarily closed. A worker reported that in the past there had been a lack of clean drinking water in the factory and unsanitary conditions, causing him to fall ill. He did not receive owed benefits other than social security.
