Myanmar: Garment workers at Lucky Fortune factory report labour rights violations at the factory

“Workers at Lucky Fortune Garment Factory say they have not been hired for more than three months”, 20 March 2022

I worked at Lucky Fortune Co. Ltd garment factory…on Saturday. Workers say there are a number of labor rights violations, including dismissal of workers if they do not work…

"It has been eight months since the probationary period expired. There is no daily wage for salaried workers…does not pay OT [to] probation workers on Saturdays.

The factory did not hire employees in accordance with the law and the rules and regulations of the employer, but only with the promise that they would be hired for three months.

"It is very difficult to take time off. Even if you are not feeling well, you have to get a medical certificate…

"We want full-time day laborers to be paid. We want salaried workers to be given the opportunity to be paid. We want workers to be…[paid]…on Saturdays," said a worker at Lucky Fortune Co. Ltd.

The factory…has been making orders for foreign brands such as ZARA and ONLY, and has not yet been able to form a union to demand workers' rights abuses.
