Myanmar: Garment workers protest over compensation owed by Young Clothing after factory closure

"Hlaingtharyar garment factory workers protest against Chinese owner", 3 December 2020

14 factory workers staged a protest against the Chinese citizen who was an owner of Young Clothing Garment Factory in Shwelinban Industrial Zone in Hlaingthaya Township, Yangon Region, in front of Myanmar Investment Commission’s Office (MIC) on December 1st...

“The factory shut down on September 15th. But, they didn’t pay any compensations for the workers in accordance with the labour law. So, there have been disputes among the labourers' rights. If the factory ignored the law, the relevant departments must file the lawsuit against the garment factory. But, the departments had been delayed. So, we didn’t get our rights in accordance with the law,” said Sai Yu Maung.
