Myanmar: Garment workers reportedly facing threats against unionists, unfair dismissals, discrimination against pregnant workers & unsafe working conditions; incl. co. response

In April 2022, it was reported that workers at AMG Garment factory were facing a number of violations at the factory, including threats against union leaders, violations of the agreement between the union and employer, workers falling sick because the factory would not turn the fans on during hot weather, dangerous working conditions and discrimination against pregnant workers. Newly hired workers were allegedly forced to pay 20,000 kyats to the factory and garment workers were forced to work in the dyeing factory, despite having no training, and then were dismissed because they were unskilled.

In June 2022, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Lidl to respond. The full response is included below.
