Myanmar Bestfortune Garment factory officials [has] fired more than 50 factory labourers[,] accusing [them] of posting online...labourers being forced to work all [day] and all night at that garment factory in Shwe Pyi Thar Township...52 labours were fired without valid reasons, alleging that the labourers working in the factory had reported the matter.

In recent months, factory officials have been calling [for] overtime without considering the labours’ [consent]...and they found out [o]n...social media that the labours were unsatisfied about that.

On October 4, HR manager Daw Thander Oo, the employer’s interpreter Ma Than Than together with the WCC members, called the 26 labours of machine line No. 10 and told them that they would stop be laid off with...one month notice wages due to lack of orders...

On October 9th, the employer's representative, Daw Thandar Oo, [told the] 52 labourers ...to move to other departments...[a]nd said that if they could not move, they would lay off 15 workers with more than 1 year of experience and those with less than 1 year of experience by paying the damages according to the EC contract together with a notice fee.

Currently, the labourers said that they won’t accept the factory's statements and will continue to negotiate.
