In October 2022, three men - Shadli Al-Huwaiti, Atallah Al-Huwaiti and Ibrahim Al-Huwaiti - were sentenced to death after they opposed ongoing evictions from land set aside for construction of the NEOM megaproject in Saudi Arabia. All three men were from the Al-Howeiti tribe, which has long opposed the project amid land rights infringements. NGO Al Qst has called for the men's "immediate and unconditional release".

Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited NEOM Co. to respond to the sentences; it did not provide a response.
