In March 2023, news reported one female worker died and 37 hospitalized due to methanol poisoning at a Samsung Electronics supplier in Bac Ninh, Vietnam. SHARPS (Supporters for the Health and Rights of People in the Semiconductor Industry), CGFED (Research Centre for Gender, Family and Environment in Development), and IPEN in their press release have connected the recent incident to long-standing and widespread mismanagement of toxic chemicals and environmental violations by Samsung Electronics in Vietnam.
