Zoom faces accusations of undermining user privacy & censoring calls in US & China
The videoconferencing company Zoom has been accused by the US Federal Trade Commission of misleading users over its security practices, undermining user privacy. Zoom and the FTC have reached a settlement over the action.
Separately, Zoom faces accusations of censorship after suspending the use of its service for an academic event with a Palestinian activist and meetings around commemorating the Tiananmen Square protests.
Zoom has issued statements in response to some of the accusations. We invited the company to respond to allegations it has not previously commented on; Zoom did not send a response.
