Marks & Spencer response re continued abuse at third party buyers' Jordan supplier

The following questions were put to Marks & Spencer:

  1. Confirm whether the investigation is complete and to disclose the findings if so; or, if the investigation is not yet complete, confirm when the results of the investigation are expected and whether findings will be made public; and
  2. Disclose whether and how Marks & Spencer has made any changes to its human rights due diligence and monitoring processes in relation to its Jordan supply chain.

Marks & Spencer response:

...

At Marks & Spencer, responsible sourcing and ethical trading is core to the way we do business, and we are very proud to hold strong long-term relationships with our suppliers and it has always been a priority to respect human rights and to stand up for our workers across our global supply chains.

This also applies to relationships we have with the third-party Brands that sell on our website and as such, in line with our Global Sourcing Principles, that set out the minimum requirements and expectations of how we and our supplier partners conduct business, our third party Brands commit that their Codes of Business Conduct and Ethics align with these Principles.

And while Columbia is a third-party Brand selling on our website, none of the products currently available on M&S.com have a Jordan certificate of origin, however we will continue to monitor the situation.
