Myanmar: Workers report harassment, verbal abuse, discrimination & pressure at garment factory; incl. co. response
In July 2024, it was reported that workers at Heng Li Garment are facing a series of violations, including mandatory overtime without rest days incl. on Sundays, verbal abuse if workers don't work overtime or meet targets, unequal pay among workers across different roles, workers made to hold umbrellas while they sew due to rain leaking into the factory in certain areas, pregnant workers fired without reason, workers denied sick leave or access to the social security clinic, workers facing wage cuts, and discrimination and harassment if they take a day off work.
