"仕事ミスで休業、退職勧奨も 外国人実習生の相談相次ぐ 専門家「外部の目届きにくく」," 17 November 2024
[Unofficial description by Business & Human Rights Resource Centre]
There have been a succession of cases in which foreign technical intern trainees have been ordered to take time off or asked to resign due to work mistakes, lack of ability, or poor work attitude, and have consulted with the supervisory agency, the Organization for Technical Intern Training. Experts point out that "companies have a strong obligation to make efforts to avoid dismissals."
A Vietnamese woman in Fukui Prefecture was told that she "lacked the skills" and was ordered to take time off work for the duration of her stay. The company said, "We tried to teach her patiently, but there were many problems, so the order was unavoidable."
Yoshihisa Saito, an associate professor at Kobe University Graduate School, said, "It is essential to match trainees with companies based on accurate information when they arrive in Japan," and pointed out that much of the risk of losing their jobs falls on the trainees themselves.
