Better Work's response re. unpaid overtime allegations at Indochine & KGG
Thank you for your email and for raising this issue with Better Work. The programme takes any allegation of failure to comply with national laws and international labour laws seriously.
Better Work conducts unannounced annual assessments of all factories registered with the program that include a robust and confidential worker interview process, document reviews, factory inspection, and management interviews. The programme conducted an assessment of Indochine in December 2020. Our last assessment at KGG was in January 2019. The full results of these assessments are shared with the factory and registered brands sourcing from the factory.
In addition to this annual assessment, the program works actively with all factories to establish improvement plans and committees to drive improvements and address the root causes of systemic issues in a participatory manner.
Better Work Ethiopia is committed to driving improved labour law compliance in the country and is supporting national partners to developing wage setting mechanism, improving social dialogue, industrial relations and occupational safety and health.
