[...] In regard to the issue relating to the hydropower plant on the Pulangi river (South Pulangi Hydroelectric Power Plant - SPHEPP) following the contract signed by CEEC and Pulangi Hydropower Corporation (PHC) in April 2019, we understand that this project is a key clean energy project supported by Philippines’ Department of Energy (DOE) and the Bukidnon provincial government. Mindanao is relatively underdeveloped, where poverty remains a widespread problem. The project's reservoir can be adjusted on a yearly basis, which will significant improve flood control of the region. At the same time, the project will create 700 jobs for the local population, fostering local economic development and the betterment of the lives of the local people. This project is owned by PHPC and the project owner has obtained a DOE-signed service contract, an environmental compliance certificate, permission from the indigenous people’s commission and other permits. Currently, the project is in the pre-feasibility study phase. With regard to the concern that "locals fear the new hydropower station will inundate agro-forested tribal land in Bukidnon province, damage wildlife, ecosystems and indigenous communities," these are problems that also concern us. Our company has always attached high importance to environmental protection and the protection of the interests of all stakeholders. We will work with the project owner to negotiate and optimise our EPC plan. Thank you for your attention.
