[DOC] BT’s complicity in Israel’s breaches of international law and human rights
In January 2010, Israeli telecommunications company Bezeq International officially joined the BT Alliance programme with “Gold Partner” status... Bezeq provides telecommunication services to Israeli settlements that have been built in violation of international law in the Occupied Palestinian Territories...Israeli settlements have been condemned as illegal by the UN Security Council and General Assembly, International Court of Justice, the European Union, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and the UK government...BT’s own internal business principles include specific commitments to ‘corporate sustainability’ and upholding human rights. BT say that all its relevant “policies and procedures” are based “on the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights”. [The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited BT and Bezeq to respond to the allegations. BT response is below. Bezeq declined to respond]
