FamilyMart's response
14 Dec 2020
[Japanese-to-English translation provided by the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre.]
We recognize the importance of respecting human rights as the foundation of our corporate activities. This belief is reflected in the "FamilyMart Human Rights Policy," which we published in October 2020. We invited experts to provide advice on and confirm the appropriateness of this policy. It was then reviewed by the Sustainability Committee, an advisory body to the CEO, and approved by the Board of Directors.
We expect our business partners and relevant parties to understand and support the FamilyMart Human Rights Policy, and we are committed to working with them to promote respect for human rights.
With regards to this specific case, we are working with our suppliers to grasp the situation and confirm whether any incidents were linked to human rights violations.
In the future, FamilyMart and our business partners will strengthen our understanding of and support for our human rights policy to promote respect for workers' human rights. At the same time, we will deepen our communication and information sharing with our partners so that we can detect human rights violations at an early stage and prevent such abuses from occurring.
