A report by the Phoenix Center for Economic Studies indicates that there is an absence of a strategic approach to the role of the business in promoting the human rights and sustainable development system in Jordan.

The report indicated that there is a gap between the strategic national plans and their implementation on the ground. It added, although Jordan is among the first Arab countries to sign ILO conventions related to decent work, the Jordanian legislative framework regulating the right to work and other human rights still lacks the adequate protection.

According to the report Jordan still faces many economic obstacles and challenges that hinder its progress to achieve sustainable development, despite the Kingdom's commitment to implementing the sustainable development goals and the 2030 development agenda.

The report emphasizes the importance of developing a national action plan on business and human rights in accordance with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and human rights and the recommendations of the working group on the issue of human rights and companies. It also stresses the need to engage civil society organizations and local communities in forming a participatory framework for accountability and sustainable development projects in Jordan.
