Minimum pay shame for Primark billionaires
Yesterday, Primark was among 260 employers accused of “cheating workers” by failing to pay the legal minimum wage.
Primark, which has 174 UK stores, was found to have underpaid staff after it deducted money from their salaries to pay for uniforms.
It was one of the largest pay offenders among those named and shamed by the business department.
The businesses were ordered to distribute £1.7 million in back pay and settle fines totalling £1.3 million.
Primark said that it was “committed to the national minimum wage and has apologised to the employees”.
