Myanmar: 155 garment workers reportedly dismissed after struggling to return to work due to political unrest; incl. co. response
On 7 April 2021, 155 workers from Myanmar Solamoda (Myanmar Sun View) garment factory were allegedly dismissed without being paid compensation in accordance with the law, for being late to work due to travel difficulties as a result of the political unrest. Workers claim the factory has taken advantage of the political unrest to dismiss them.
In June 2022, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Fast Retailing to respond. Fast Retailing said it had received assurances from the factory that terminations were made in full accordance with Myanmar's labor laws, and that it was working to verify the information it had received.
