Myanmar: Union leaders reportedly face discrimination at Amava Apparel factory; incl. co. responses
In June 2023, it was reported that workers at the Amava Apparel factory were facing a series of violations, including union leaders and members being discriminated against and prevented from engaging with workers, workers threatened to not join the union, day labourers denied rights and fired one day before six months of service and called back to work, wage cuts if workers take days off work, and the factory preventing workers from taking medical leave.
In October 2023, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Blaklader and Frasers Group (parent company of Karrimor) to respond. The responses can be found below.
