Nigeria: Advocates remember Ken Saro-Wiwa, convicted of murder & executed after he protested oil pollution by Shell
Human rights defender Ken Saro-Wiwa was executed, along with eight other members of the Ogoni people, by the Nigerian State on 10 November 1995. They were convicted for murder and sentenced to death following a trial that failed to meet international standards. Ken Saro-Wiwa carried out a long-term campaign against oil pollution in the oil rich Niger Delta by Royal Dutch Shell.
