Response from Rio Tinto to Oxfam's open letter

... "Rio Tinto was an inaugural company supporter of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) and is currently represented on the EITI Board. Rio Tinto was pleased to be found to be meeting all EITI Company Expectations in the inaugural 2021 EITI Assessment of supporting company adherence to the Company Expectations and we remain committed to meeting our responsibilities as defined in the EITI Company Expectations and as a Board member.

An EITI Board review of the EITI Company Expectations is currently underway. Rio Tinto considers adherence to the Company Expectations to be central to the integrity of the EITI process and so is actively involved in the Review process to clarify and enhance the Company Expectations. That process is being conducted through good faith negotiation under the auspices of normal EITI multi-stakeholder governance processes.

Rio Tinto will be supportive of information about the outcome of the review being shared with BHRRC and Oxfam and other interested stakeholders, following the February EITI Board meeting."
