... Both TotalEnergies EP Uganda (TEPU) and EACOP Ltd maintain their earlier position that no land eviction activities have been carried out by or on behalf of TEPU or EACOP Ltd and none of the affected persons mentioned in the article are Tilenga or EACOP Project Affected Persons (PAPs).

The rejoinder suggests that the affected people come from the villages of Kapapi, Runga, Waaki, and Kiryatete which are mentioned in the RAP 4 report, and as a result, it attributes the evictions to the Tilenga and EACOP projects. We wish to clarify that the villages in question, notably Runga and Kiryatete, were initially identified during the planning phase as potential areas to be affected by the project and initial disclosure engagements took place. However, once project footprint had been fully mapped, it became apparent that the above villages would not be affected by the feeder pipelines as they are situated several kilometers from either Tilenga or EACOP infrastructure. Consequently, these villages were kept clear during construction and none of the persons mentioned in this article are either Tilenga or EACOP PAPs. Hence, there was no further engagement on the acquisition of the land in the said villages...
