Response from Uber to Murdered Behind the Wheel report

"Violence is far too common in our society, and our hearts break for the families impacted by these tragedies. The Uber community is not immune to these broader trends, which is why we remain committed to safety, and are always working to make impactful changes to the app, including the ability to freeze rider accounts with fake names and requiring ID in some circumstances. The safety of drivers and couriers is a top priority, and we’ll continue investing in critical safety features like the ability to chat with a live safety agent, record trip audio in the app in nearly 150 US cities, and share their trip with loved ones."
