Sugar Contracts and Their Impact on Land and Workers' Rights

With support from Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment, we studied nine sugar producers/suppliers in Cambodia, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Mali, Sierra Leone, and Timor Leste found on the OpenLandContracts portal. We assessed contractual provisions in relation to land rights, workers rights, and access to remedy. We also presented recommendations for businesses, civil society, and governments.

In 2016, KnowTheChain released a study on sugar sourcing/buyers companies. You can access the paper here.
