ArcelorMittal's response

...Regarding environmental rights defenders, our commitment is clear, we do not tolerate and will not contribute to threats, intimidation, or any kind of unlawful violence against any rights defenders regardless of their opinions or actions in connection with our operations. Additionally, we are committed to collaborating with human rights defenders to enable engagement in respecting human rights.

In 2023, along with the update of our human rights policy, we have conducted corporate-level saliency assessment, and developed new human rights trainings, among other projects. Additional details are available on our website under "Human rights | ArcelorMittal" and will be disclosed in our annual sustainability reporting documents Reporting Hub | ArcelorMittal.

We want to strongly emphasize that our company has absolutely no connection with this terrible act, and we deeply regret the security situation being experienced not only in the states where our company operates but also throughout Mexico. We condemn in the strongest terms any form of violence and reiterate our firm commitment to respecting human rights and promoting a culture of corporate social responsibility...
