Belo Sun's response

Thank you for providing Belo Sun the opportunity to respond.

The licensing of the Volta Grande Project follows, and is compliant with, all applicable governmental regulations. The company is always available to the communities, entities and agencies involved in the licensing process and reinforces its commitment to the Volta Grande do Xingu region, respecting Brazilian legislation at the federal, state and municipal levels.

Although the Volta Grande Project is located more then 10km from our neighboring Indigenous communities, Belo Sun has a respectful and collaborative relationship with the Paquiçamba IT and the Arara da Volta Grande IT and understands that free, informed and open consultations is their right and that respect for their traditions and land is essential. The claim that the company intends to explore or mine within indigenous lands is without merit and incorrect, our mineral titles are outside indigenous lands, more than 10 km from the Paquiçamba IT and more than 14 km from the Arara da Volta Grande IT.

Belo Sun continues to follow the regulated permitting path respecting all stakeholders and has successfully completed through consultation with the Indigenous communities the Indigenous Component Study (ECI) following the protocols established by FUNAI (National Indigenous Foundation) including the collection of primary data and consultation with indigenous communities in line with the guidelines of ILO Convention 169.
