Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) responds

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), being a fund manager on behalf of several funds, takes the findings of the “In Broad Daylight” report by Sheffield Hallam University very seriously.

CIP strongly condemns any form of forced labour or abuse of labour rights. CIP is committed to the principles concerning fundamental rights set out in the International Labour Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, and CIP’s ESG standards and supply contracts require that CIP’s supply chain acts in accordance with such rights. As a signatory to the UN Principles for Responsible Investment (‘UN PRI’), CIP has implemented a dedicated ESG framework. Suppliers of components for CIP-managed projects are covered by this framework, which includes mandatory ESG standards, committing to contractual clauses and ongoing monitoring by CIP. These obligations are of paramount importance for CIP.

The entities relevant to CIP named in the report are legally obligated to respect human rights and eliminate all forms of forced labour in their production and supply of modules to CIP. The relevant entities have confirmed that they comply with these contractual obligations. Furthermore, they have confirmed that they comply with local law and regulation on markets where they supply CIP with solar modules.

Going forward, CIP will continue to monitor the situation closely to make sure that our suppliers comply with their contractual obligations. CIP is prepared to take the necessary steps to enforce contractual rights.
