Ecuador: Indigenous protest against Chinese mining operations over social, environmental impacts
For more than 20 days, Shuar indigenous groups started a series of peaceful demonstrations to protest against persecution they have been subject to and for the impacts that EcuaGold mining, part of Junefield are bringing about. An independent “tribunal” held [an unofficial] hearing on this company and on EcuaCorriente (part of Corriente Resources, part of China Railway Construction, CRCC and Tongguan). Business and Human Rights Resource Centre invited Junefield to respond, but the company did not.
