Johnson & Johnson's response

8 December 2020

We’re deeply concerned by the human rights abuses reported by the Associated Press. As a global healthcare company, Johnson & Johnson is firmly committed to respecting human rights. While only about 0.1% of the global production of palm oil is used to produce the ingredients in our products, given the importance of ethical sourcing, we engage our suppliers to cascade our Responsible Palm Oil Sourcing Criteria through the supply chain. This Criteria explicitly states the expectation that the sources of the palm oil in our ingredients do not use forced, bonded or child labor, and respects the rights of all workers including contract, temporary and migrant workers. We also have partnered with Earthworm Foundation to improve transparency in our palm derivatives supply chains and ensure conformance to our Criteria since 2014. We are committed to working with partners to help drive the adoption of responsible practices worldwide.”
