KiK response
[KiK response to OECD complaint accusing KiK of partial responsibility for deaths and injuries at a KiK supplier factory fire in Bangladesh.] Much to our regret, the international textile industry has recently experienced a series of tragic accidents arising from insufficient safety precautions and labour standards in the Bangladeshi manufacturing sector. In the light of this situation, there is no alternative to the joint course of action that IndustriALL has now drawn up for the industry and for many of its national and international players. Therefore KiK has – along with other well-known textile companies – committed to signing the Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh. For KiK, the partially quite ambitious approach laid out in the accord represents a profound systemic change. We want to contribute to its success in a hands-on way to create secure labour conditions as well as transparent business relations
