NomoGaia has been evaluating and monitoring the human rights impacts of Paladin Energy’s Kayelekera Uranium Mine in Northern Malawi since 2009. During a 2015 monitoring visit, the mine had temporarily stopped operating and there were indications that the company might close its operations in Malawi. In its report, it calls on Paladin Energy to “uphold high human rights standards” by managing potential risks effectively.

Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Paladin Energy to respond to these concerns; the company did not respond.
