MO's response to allegations of abuses in Myanmar garment factories - February 2025 update
[...]
For Myanmar, where we do not have a local team, we have partnered with SMART Myanmar to uphold our commitment to socially, ethically, and environmentally responsible sourcing...

In our first year of collaboration, 2024, we worked with six factories producing MO orders in Myanmar:
- One factory was already part of the SMART Myanmar program, recommended by another retailer.
- Three factories were successfully enrolled into the program upon our request.
- One factory refused to join and was immediately removed from our factory database.
- One factory, already certified by other international standards, was placed on standby for inclusion in 2025.
This year, we have integrated the aforementioned standby factory into the program and added two additional factories, pending successful enrollment, before production begins.
MO & Ten Da Garment Factory Allegations – Business & Human Rights Resource Center
Upon learning of allegations that MO production had taken place at Ten Da Garment Factory—an entity accused of unethical and irresponsible practices—we conducted an immediate and thorough review. Our key findings are as follows:
- Supplier Confirmation: All traders through whom we produce in Myanmar have explicitly confirmed that they do not place orders at Ten Da Garment Factory, neither for MO nor for any of their other clients.
- Logistics Review: Our import team examined all maritime and air shipment records from 2023 to the present. No documentation references Ten Da Garment Factory were found.
- Communication Records: We have reviewed all available MO communication channels and found no requests for response from the Business & Human Rights Resource Center on this matter.
